In fact, not long after completing school, I tried to start my nutrition practice by renting an office inside of a chiropractic clinic -- because that’s what I thought I had to do.
I began “marketing” myself by handing out brochures, holding free talks where sometimes only 3 people showed up (one was always my mom), and I waited for referrals that never came…
(Again -- more things that I thought I “had” to do.)
Then…
Within that same year, I had to terminate the rental contract for my office because it was just sucking money out of my account, and no income was coming in.
And that really STUNG!
Still though, I needed to make money somehow, so I put my pride aside and went back to the fitness center that I worked at before as a personal trainer. It just so happens that after a month of personal training, the nutritionist at the gym got fired and I was asked to fill her shoes.
“Oh my gosh” I thought, “this is it, my big break.” Um, no.
When you work at a gym, you have sales goals and I was not meeting mine... and, I knew that I was going to get fired if I didn’t do something quick.
Now I know that the problem was that I wasn’t treating my nutrition practice like a business… I was selling single sessions and giving way too much information away for free...
So I had what I like to call an Eat, Pray, Love Moment, you know, where you’re hysterically crying on the bathroom floor.
I Wasn’t Doing It “Wrong,”
I Just Didn’t Know What I Was Doing...
And in that moment I decided that I was going to figure it out… so I started to pay attention to what other businesses in the nutrition industry where doing and what was successfully selling at the gym... and it was group programs.
Since I was basically repeating myself with the few clients I did have, I thought, hey, I can create a group program.
So I devoured every weight loss book, I joined Weight Watchers to learn how they were doing it. I joined weight loss support groups. I asked my sales manager at the gym for sales lessons.
For the first time I realized there were actual books on learning how to sell and market your business, so I read those and about 4 months later I had a group weight loss program and 12 women in my first group.
That’s when I realized that I didn’t have to ONLY sell single sessions with one to two follow ups. I could create a group program, see more people in one hour than I could in a whole day and triple my hourly rate.
This was an epiphany because it was a whole other way of running a health business I had no idea about before!
It didn’t take too long for other nutritionists and health practitioners to notice the success I was having. I started getting requests to teach them how I tripled my income, while cutting my client hours in half.
That’s when it happened.. the voice inside my head and heart started screaming… “Lori you are made for more. This is what you are meant to do.” While I was having great success with my nutrition practice by this point, I knew I wasn’t playing full out, and I KNEW there was something bigger available to me…

I’ve already spent so much money on my education and other online programs… how is this different?
This is the only online group coaching program that was created by a nutritionist, for health coaches and practitioners, that teaches the exact steps to create, launch and fill a group program. I know there are many other awesome online programs available (I’ve likely bought them too - - like Marie Forleo’s B School) but those programs don’t specifically teach you how to do this.
The WBA modules, the video tech tutorials, the Facebook community and 2x monthly group coaching calls aren’t fly by the seat of your pants strategies that may or may not work for you. It’s a step-by-step plan that you can easily follow based off of years of testing in my own business and also from mentoring hundreds of other health professionals.
